Marco Wittmann finished today’s second session in Zandvoort with the 3rd best time, while Alexander Sims maintained his strong form at Zandvoort to fend off ART team-mate Valterri Bottas’ challenge and secure pole position for the Formula 3 Masters. Sims had been quickest in both morning practice and first qualifying, and managed to improve his pole time to a 1m30.956s in the second qualifying session – 0.8 seconds faster than he had managed earlier.
Last year’s Masters winner Bottas repeated his second place from the opening session, but this time the gap between the ART duo increased from 0.008s to 0.156s.

Marco Wittmann got the fourth best laptime this morning in Zandvoort, while Alexander Sims led an ART one-two in the first of the two qualifying sessions for the Formula 3 Masters at Zandvoort. In an extraordinarily close session, Sims came out on top by just 0.004 seconds over his team-mate – and 2009 Masters winner – Valtteri Bottas. F3 Euro Series championship leader Edoardo Mortara had to settle for third for Signature, alongside team-mate Marco Wittmann, but was also less than a tenth down on Sims.

Marco Wittmann tried to gain as many places as possible in today’s race 2 in Valencia. The Gravity Academy driver overtook quite a lot of his rivals and finished in 7th position. After 3 events, Marco is 2nd in the championship standings.
In the meantime, Kevin Magnussen took the victory after grabbing the lead from reversed grid pole-sitter Nicolas Marroc at the start.
While Marroc held off the challenge of Laurens Vanthoor and Valtteri Bottas for the entire race, Magnussen was able to cruise away into the distance, eventually winning by 10 seconds after backing off in the closing stages. The battle for second more …
