Romain Grosjean replaces Ho-Pin for Spa

Ho-Pin Tung had made good progress since his accident at the Hungaroring (Hungary) on 31st July. New examinations carried out this week have confirmed that the third Renault F 1 Team driver will soon fully recover from his injuries. However, it is still too early for him to drive at Spa-Francorchamps. Ho-Pin will be replaced by Romain Grosjean this weekend, and the Frenchman will team up with Jérôme d’Ambrosio in the DAMS squad.

A week after his crash in Hungary, Ho-Pin is resting at home and can’t wait to resume training.

How are you feeling after your accident? HPT: “I’m feeling quite okay, actually. I’m at home now and I was treated very well at the APK hospital in Budapest; they took really good care of me. Many people from both the DAMS and Renault F1 teams came by to visit so I wasn’t bored at all. Now at home I’m staying in bed most of the time reading some books, watching some TV. Update on Ho-Pin (new)

Following yesterday’s accident in the GP2 feature race, Ho-Pin Tung had an MRI scan this morning, which confirmed a very small fracture on a lumbar vertebrae. No surgery is required and his recovery period is not expected to be a long time. He will remain inBudapest’s AEK Hospital until Tuesday and will then return home to rest. A further medical examination is scheduled for two weeks time to assess his recovery.
