Renault F1’s reserve driver catches up with us while attending the Hockenheim “World Series” event, doing donuts in a R29.

Jérôme, Spa must have been a big disappointment for you… JDA : “It was. On the other hand, it was a very good weekend. The performance was there and it’s better something like that than just trundling around at the back of the field.”

What was the engine problem? JDA : “It was the con rod. It just went through the floor!”

GP2, Spa : Race 2 results

Jérôme D’Ambrosio had a disappointing day today in Spa, when his car stalled on the grid. He then had an electrical problem, which led his engine to stop.

Meanwhile, Mexico’s Sergio Perez made up for yesterday’s disappointment by taking victory in today’s reverse-grid GP2 race at Spa-Francorchamps.

After starting second, the Addax driver made light work of pole man Rodolfo Gonzalez (Arden), running much quicker through Eau Rouge and passing him at Les Combes on the first lap. Perez never relinquished the lead more …

GP2, race : So close to winning…

Jérôme d’Ambrosio was on his way to winning the feature race today when an engine failure forced him to stop. Pastor Maldonado then collected his sixth, and toughest, win of the season, benefiting when polesitter Jerome stopped late in the race and then hanging on against a huge push in the closing laps to win by just 0.2 seconds from Alvaro Parente and Romain Grosjean.
